젊은 사람들 많이 있건만, 내가 사랑해 볼만한 사람은 없다오
이 문장은 Young men are plenty but sweethearts [are] few가 되는 것이 맞다.
그러나 팝에서는 때로는 문법을 무시할 때가 많이 있다.
* sweetheart : 연인, 애인
* sweethearts few : 애인으로 삼을 만한 사람은 거의 없다는 말이다.

내가 헤아려야 할 금과 은이 가득한 창고가 저 멀리 산에 있다 해도

* store : 창고, 저장소.
* yonder : 더 멀리의, 더 저쪽의
- the yonder bank : 건너편 기슭

아버지는 내게 집과 땅을 남겨주시고 수많은 하인을 부리도록 해주셨지만
* at one's command : 누구의 명령에 따르는
* servants many : 원래는 many servants가 되어야 하나 여기서도 many를 뒤로 보내
많다는 것을 강조하고 있다.

5) At my commandment they ne'er shall be I'll forsake them all and go with thee
(그러나) 나의 명령에는 그들이 그렇게 하지 않을 것입니다.
이 모든 걸 다 버리고 당신과 함께 떠나렵니다
* At my commandment : 나의 명령에
* ne'er : 주로 詩에서 사용하며 never의 뜻이다.
* forsake : …을 저버리다, (버리고) 떠나다
- He has forsaken his wife and his children. 그는 처자를 저버렸다.

6) I love my father, I love my mother, I love my sister, I love my brother
I love my friends and relations too but I'll leave them all and go with you
아버지와 어머니를 사랑하고 누이와 동생도 사랑하며 친구와 이웃들도 사랑하지만
그들과 헤어지고 그대와 함께 떠나렵니다
* relations : 친척. 다른 표현으로는 relatives로 사용해도 좋다.
실제로 다른 가수가 부른 곡에서는 relatives로 되어 있다.
